Pegasus Airlines Flights

Like the mythical Pegasus soaring into the skies, Pegasus Airlines is now one of the top commercial flight carriers in Turkey. It rides on an increasing trend of flying passengers to various domestic and international locations, which totalled to millions of passengers handled in the recent years. It has grown from accommodating 4.4 million in 2008 to 16.8 million in 2013, making it rank almost neck and neck with flagship carrier Turkish Airlines in terms of passenger traffic.

Pegasus Airlines, however, did not start out big in December 1989 when Net and Silkar first worked out a partnership with Aer Lingus. They opened a small charter airline which began flying in 1990 with two Boeing 737-400 planes. Their venture, however, suffered a setback when Iraq attacked Kuwait months after the launch. The flights came back in 1992 when the tourism industry burgeoned in Turkey. This began the company's acquisition of more planes to create a substantial fleet to manage the incoming passenger traffic.

The year 1994 is a rewarding time for Pegasus Airlines when it became solely a Turkish company. The turn of the 21st century brought more pleasing changes when Pegasus changed from being a charter airline to a low-cost air travel company. This became a right move for the airline company, as more travellers patronised their services.
