HK Express Flights

Hong Kong Express Airways, or HK Express, is a low-cost airline in Hong Kong, which provides scheduled air services to nine destinations in Asia, including China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand. It is the first and only low-cost carrier (LCC) in Hong Kong. Its main hub is at Hong Kong International Airport, which has an exclusive fleet of six Airbus A320 aircraft, all of which have single-class economy seating for 174 seats each. There are plans to increase the number by adding five more Airbus A320s, which will more than double the existing capacity, equating to extra 8,000 Guests on-board every day.

The airline was incorporated on the 10th of March 2004, initially operating fixed-wing operations, regional jet services, and later on, passengers, cargo, and mail transport from Hong Kong to select destinations in China. It began operating scheduled air services (charter and passenger flights) in May 2005. Its formal operations as a low-cost carrier began in 2013.

Why Fly with Hongkong Express

How to Check In

HK Express offers convenient ways to check-in. If you are checking in at the airport, it’s advisable to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your scheduled flight departure. Check-in counters in Hong Kong Airport are at Zone N of Terminal 2. For in-town check-in, you can travel via Airport Express train on your way to Hong Kong International Airport. You can check-in at either Hong Kong or Kowloon station and then check-in and collect your boarding pass as early as one day in advance or as late as 90 minutes before departure. For online booking, all you have to do is go to the airline’s official website and follow the step-by-step procedure carefully and accurately.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Checked baggage allowance depends on how you purchase your ticket (which may or may not include baggage). For online bookings, fares are not inclusive of checked baggage. You may pay for baggage at the listed incremental weights upon booking. You may also purchase baggage upon arrival at the airport, although you will be charged higher compared to pre-purchased baggage. Bookings made via travel agent, call centre, interline, or at the airport are inclusive of a maximum of 20kg of checked baggage. Note that all fees levied are per total weight, regardless of number of bags. The maximum weight allowed for each bag is 32kg and must not exceed 158cm/62". For carry-on baggage, the maximum allowance is 56x36x23cm (22"x14"x9") and 7kg (15.4lb). Dangerous and hazardous items are not allowed on-board. All liquids, gels, and aerosols must be safely sealed in container and the total must not exceed 100ml.

Booking Fees

HK Express requires instant payment upon booking to ensure seat reservation. The airline accepts all major credit cards for bookings made online or via its call centre. Tickets are instant purchase and cannot be put on hold. All currencies are accepted for payment. Seats are sold on a first-pay, first-serve basis so it’s recommended to book your desired flight early before seats are sold out. HK Express reserved the right to verify the credit card if the credit card is not one of the travellers. Verification can be done via the airline’s call centre or at the airport check-in counter.

Inflight Food

The airline offers a vast array of hot and cold meals, drinks, and alcoholic beverages, which you can purchase from the on-board menu and express café. There are plenty of available Hong Kong and other Asian delights including treats, as well as sweet and spicy meals. Food and drink brought in the cabin or bought outside are not allowed to be consumed on-board.
