Why Fly with Virgin Atlantic

How to Check In

For a convenient and relaxed experience, Virgin Atlantic offers many options on checking in for flights. Aside from the traditional and physical check-in counters, the airline offers mobile check-in for its passengers where they can log through their mobile devices to check-in for their flights through the mobile website. An online check-in service is also offered, where the same premise like that of the mobile check-in is applied. Another option is through kiosk check-in, a self-service check-in counter where a passenger can check-in up to nine passengers in one go. Lastly, the airline also offers the twilight check-in service, where passengers can check-in between 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. if their flight is early the next day. Do note that some of the check-in services are only offered to certain airports and that physical and online options are the best check-in options before a flight. Incidentally, if a passenger is still enjoying a Disney World trip, he or she may check in from the park, open from 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., seven days a week, and is free for Upper Class and Flying Club Gold passengers. If staying around in Hong Kong, passengers may also check-in through the AEL Hong Kong and Kowloon stations, until 90 minutes before take-off. Passengers may check-in within the day through the stations and until 90 minutes before departure.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Passengers are allowed to carry a certain amount of hand baggage free of charge subject to Virgin Atlantic's conditions and limitations. For Upper class passengers, two pieces of hand baggage are allowed subject to a combined weight limit of 16kg and dimensions not exceeding 23 x 36 x 56cm. Premium Economy passengers and Economy passengers meanwhile, both enjoy one piece as free baggage allowance, with a maximum of 10kg and dimensions not exceeding 23 x 36 x56cm. Hand baggage should be mounted or placed by all passengers across all classes in the overhead bins unaided. Moreover, passengers can bring some bits and bobs on-board in addition to the allowances as mentioned – items such as a handbag, pocketbook, purse, overcoat or wrap, umbrella or walking sticks, a small camera, a pair of binoculars, infant items (for use on the flight), a small amount of duty free goods, and headphones for on-board use. More so, large electrical items such as laptops will be checked for security screening.

Seating

Virgin Atlantic Airways offer three seat classes that can be enjoyed by passengers depending on their budget and their liking. These classes are Economy class, Premium Economy class, and the Upper Class. Economy class enjoys the comforts of the best complimentary drinks and delicious meals, a personal seat-back TV, and the best hospitality on all flights. Meanwhile, the Premium Economy class gets to enjoy all the comforts of flying Economy, with the addition of more leg room and bigger seats. Lastly, pure luxury is offered for Upper Class passengers as services for it include a chauffeured car that arrives to collect passengers from the dedicated check-in counters, private security, the Virgin Clubhouse or dedicated lounge, and a complimentary spa service or cocktail – or even both. On-board, Upper class passengers get to enjoy private and personal suites: seats that turn into flat beds, an elegant inflight bar, and a superb dining experience. For domestic flights around the United Kingdom, a seating class called “Little Red” is also being offered for passengers who wish to grab the opportunity and take low fares.
