Air India Express is a low-cost carrier that began its commercial operations in 2005. It is a subsidiary of India’s flag carrier, Air India. Air India Express operates from its base at the Calicut International Airport, also known as Karipur Airport in Kerala, India. Other operating hubs of Air India Express are the Cochin International Airport and Trivandrum International Airport. Its fleet of 17 Boeing 737-800 aircraft are each configured with a single Economy Class cabin. Air India Express does not offer a frequent flyer program but operates codeshare flights with its parent company, Air India.

Check In

While one can book a seat on an Air India Express flight via the airline’s website, there is no online check-in option available at the moment. Air India Express check-in counters will open 3 hours prior to scheduled flight departures. It is recommended to be at the Air India Express check-in counters early especially during peak travel seasons as the airport check-in counters will close 1 hour before the scheduled flight departure time.

Payment Methods

Payments for Air India Express online bookings can be made with major credit cards (Visa and Mastercard). When purchasing at the ticket offices, both cash and credit card payments are accepted. Once payment is made, an itinerary receipt for your Air India Express flight will be issued.

Seating

Air India Express operates a fleet of the narrow-body jets, Boeing 737-800, in an all-economy configuration. The standard seats have a seat pitch which range from 30 to 32 inches and are 17 inches wide. The seats do not have personal screens or power outlets. Seat selection is offered for a fee on direct international flights only. Seat selection can be done at the time of booking or later. Please check with the airline on the fees and conditions.

Baggage Allowance

Every passenger on Air India Express, except for infants, is entitled to carry on board one small piece of cabin luggage not exceeding 7 kg. If the hand-carried luggage exceeds the allowable 7kg limit, it will have to be checked in. Complimentary checked baggage allowance is 25 kg per passenger, except for infants. Infants are entitled to 10 kilos baggage free of charge. Baggage that will exceed the free baggage allowance is subject to charges and space availability on the aircraft.

In-Flight Services

Air India Express will provide complimentary halal set meals and soft beverages. For flights with durations of less than 60 minutes, light vegetarian snacks will be served. There are no inflight entertainment onboard Air India Express flights.
