American Airlines Flights

American Airlines, Inc., usually called as American Airlines, is a major United States airliner with hubs scattered in Texas, New York, California, Florida, and Illinois. It operates an extensive international and US domestic network, with scheduled flights throughout most inhabited continents around the world. Its primary maintenance base is located at Tulsa International Airport (TUL), while the corporate headquarters is in Fort Worth, Texas.

American Airlines is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance, and coordinates fares, services, and scheduling with giants British Airways, Finnair, Iberia (transatlantic market), Japan Airlines, and Qantas (transpacific market). Envoy Air, SkyWest, Republic Airways Holdings, and ExpressJet Airlines all operate regional flights for American Airlines under the American Eagle brand. The former parent company of American Airlines, AMR Corporation, filed for bankruptcy protection in 2011, and in 2013 announced plans to merge with US Airways Group, which created the largest airline in the world. AMR and US Airways completed the merger in December of the same year, with the new holding company as “American Airlines Group, Inc. The combined airline now carries the said branding, and maintains existing US Airways hubs in Charlotte, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Washington. The merger beefed up the American Airlines fleet size to 627 (excluding other aircraft outside the mainline), and an extensive network of 273 destinations (excluding US Airways exclusive destinations and code shares).

Why Fly with American Airlines

How to Check In

American Airlines offers a lot of check-in options for passengers to utilise. Before even stepping within the premises of the airport of departure, travellers are already allowed to check-in through online means, or through mobile. Online check-in is available from 24 hours down to 45 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights, and up to 90 minutes prior to departure for international flights. Mobile check-in is open at the same time, through the American Airlines app or mobile site. Further, upon reaching the airport, all passengers are given ample check-in options to use. Self-service machines offer quick and easy ways to get boarding passes and check bags without waiting in line at the ticket counter. There is also an established “curbside” check-in, where travellers can immediately check their bags and get boarding passes right at the curb. Moreover, flagship check-in options are also in place, providing expedited access through security and a private customer service facility. As always, the traditional ticket counter check-in service is in place.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

American airlines provide both free baggage allowance and carry-on allowance, depending on the ticket class and destination. Usually, long-haul flight passengers are provided with more allowances, while domestic flights are limited but still generous. Travellers may check all details through the airline’s website. Information regarding restricted items, delayed delivery and damaged baggage, liability limitations, and lost and found statuses are also provided here.

American Airlines have unconventional seat options and classes for their passengers. Instead of calling them “business class”, “first class”, and “economy”, they have classified it as such: main cabin extra, American Airlines Preferred Seats, US Airways ChoiceSeats, and US Airways Preferred Seats. The last two are applicable for US Airways flights, while the first two are what American Airlines use. AAdvantage® customers have complimentary access to the said “main cabin extra” seats.

Inflight Services

American Airlines offers various forms of services when on-board. Apart from safety and comfort within the plane, the airline also provides great Wi-Fi and connectivity options, a variety of entertainment options, complementary items, wines or beverage (of the traveller's) of choice, and a superb in-flight dining experience.
