Aeroflot Flights

Aeroflot-Russian Airlines, or more commonly known as Aeroflot, is the flag carrier and the largest airlines of the Russian Federation. Aeroflot operates both domestic and international passenger services, mainly from its hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport. Founded in 1923, the airline is one of the oldest airlines in the world. During the Soviet Era, the airlines was Soviet's national airline and the largest airline in the world, although following the dissolution of the USSR or the union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Aeroflot has been transformed into a semi-privatised company from a state-run enterprise.

The airline is a member of SkyTeam since 2006, and has embarked on a fleet modernisation programme, extensive route restructuring, and image overhaul. The airline's Aeroflot Group has 30,328 employees, and is 51% owned by the Russian Government.

As of December 2013, the airline operates scheduled passenger and cargo flights from its hub at Sheremetyevo International Airports, flying to 129 routes and destinations, and in 2014, Aeroflot has codeshare agreements with 32 major airlines coming from around the world.

Aside from operating passenger and cargo services, the airline also performs other functions, including aeromedical, crop-dusting, heavy lifting for the Soviet Space Agency, offshore oil platform support, exploration for natural resources, support for construction projects, transport of military troops and supplies as an adjunct to the Soviet Air Force, atmospheric research, and remote area patrol, as well as operating on hundreds of helicopters and cargo aircraft aside from the civil airliners.

How to Check In

Aside from physical check-in counters, Aeroflot offers its passengers an online check-in feature wherein they can check-in and register to their flights at least 24 hours until 45 minutes before departure. Here, passengers may choose their preferred seats, print their own boarding passes, and arrive to the airport without lining out and going to a check-in counter. Any flight (except for code-shared flights) going out of Moscow via the Sheremeyevo International Airport is available for online check-in. Other conditions include policies when travelling with a baby under two years of age, persons with reduced mobility, and other requirements. Similarly, travellers may opt to check-in via their mobile devices. Mobile check-in services are available through the Aeroflot app, or through through the phone's mobile browser. Mobile check-in, like online check-in, is available and opened 24 hours before and closes 45 minutes prior to departure. As soon as the mobile check-in is completed, the passenger will be given a mobile boarding pass, a 2D barcode which can be printed in the self-service printers and presented pre-flight.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Aeroflot gives and provides its passengers free baggage allowance depending on their seat classes. Business class passengers are allowed 2 pieces of baggage not more than 32 kilogrammes each as checked in baggage, and a piece not more than 15 kilogrammes as hand luggage. Comfort class passengers are similarly allowed 2 pieces of baggage for check in, but with a 23-kilogramme limit for each piece, plus a piece of hand luggage not exceeding 10 kilogrammes. Premium economy class passengers are then allowed to bring two pieces of baggage that are not more than 23 kilogrammes each, and a piece of hand luggage not exceeding 10 kilogrammes. Lastly, the other economy classes get to enjoy a piece of checked-in baggage that does not exceed 23 kilogrammes for check-in, and a piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 10 kilogrammes. All checked-in baggage, regardless of seat class, should not exceed 158 centimetres in the sum of three measures, and all hand luggage, regardless of seat class, should not exceed 115 centimetres in the sum of three measures. All excess weight and baggage should be paid accordingly depending on the rates set by the airline.


Aeroflot offers various seat classes for all its passengers depending on their preference. Passengers may be seated under the President (VIP) class, Premier (Business) Class, the new Comfort Class, and the Economy (Premium and Regular) classes.
