Singapore Changi Airport has three passenger terminals. SilkAir and Tigerair flights to Chiang Mai depart from Terminal 2. The airport is easily accessible from most points in the city. You can choose from MRT, bus, hotel shuttles or taxi. The East West Line links Changi Airport to the MRT network. It is a very convenient way of travelling if you do not have much luggage.

Fares from the city are less than S$2 (US$1.40) and takes 45-50 minutes. Bus 36 also covers most of the city centre and can take you direct to the airport bus station for S$1.80 (US$1.33). A taxi ride from the city to Changi Airport would take an average of thirty minutes, and would cost around S$20 (US$14.80).

The Chiang Mai International Airport is considered the gateway to northern Thailand and one of the country’s busiest airports. Its international and domestic terminals are located in a single building. The airport is located near to the city centre and is only 10 to 15 minutes by taxi.

Transport from the airport is usually by taxis, shared taxis, rental cars and hotel shuttles that are arranged in advance. Taxi fare to town is approximately S$6 (US $4.42). A cheaper option is to take the shared taxi or shuttle van service that goes to several hotels in the city. Price for the one-way trip is S$1.55 (US $1.14) per person.

The busy Chiang Mai International Airport offers a full range of facilities for travellers. There are lounges that are free to use for business travellers. Regular passengers can also use the paid lounges at the airport but this need to be booked in advance. The airport also has a good selection of shops selecting Thai souvenirs, jewellery, silk items and other local crafts.

For refreshments upon arrival, you can choose from a variety of cafes and restaurants that serve Thai cuisine. While there are no transit hotels available at the airport, there are several airports located near the hotel, just 2 to 5 minutes away, such as Airport Resident, TL Residence and Hotel Noble Place. Room rates start at S$20 (US$15) depending on your choice of accommodation.
