Chiang Mai International Airport, Thailand

Chiang Mai International Airport is the major gateway to northern Thailand. The fourth busiest airport in Thailand, this airport greets over four million passengers annually. The airport hosts a large number of both domestic and international flights from major cities around the world to this ancient city.

Terminals (if applicable)

The airport is a modern facility with a simple layout. There are two terminals -- the international and domestic arrivals and departure hall. The arrival halls and check-in counters in both terminals are found on the first level while the departure halls are located on the second level.

Services and Facilities

Lounge. Travellers are able to relax at the comfortable boutique lounges with refreshments, free WiFi and the usual lounge amenities. It is necessary to book the lounge prior to arrival and travellers are allowed to stay within the lounge for 3 hours.

Wifi/Internet Services. There are free WiFi services in the international arrival and departure halls.

Business & Conference. Business travellers are able to proceed to the Thai Airways Royal Orchid Lounge or the Bangkok Airways Lounge where they are able to use the business facilities available there.

Shopping.Shop for nice jewellery and pearls at Happy Gems, Sea and Hill and Gold Swiss. For fashionistas, head to Silk, a shop selling fine Thai silk clothes and scarves.

General Services. Terminals 1 and 2 are equipped with banks, ATMs and foreign exchange counters. Post offices and telecommunication services as well as telephones are available for use in both the terminals. There are a number of prayer rooms within both the terminals.

Eating Facilities.There is a wide array of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Be sure to try the scrumptious egg noodles from the Egg Noodles House and some nice iced tea from the Black Canyon Coffee. Indulge in authentic Thai food at a variety of different Thai restaurants scattered between the two terminals.

Car Rental Facilities. Head to Hertz Rent a Car, Avis car rent and Thai rent a car booths where you can hire a car to explore this ancient city conveniently and freely. These booths are located at the arrival halls of both the domestic and international terminals.

Transit Hotels. There are a number of hotels where tired travellers would be able to spend the night at such as the Airport Greenery Serviced Apartment and the Singha Montra Lanna Boutique Style Hotel. There are hotels available for different types of travellers from backpackers to jetsetters.

Driving hide 

The airport can easily be travelled to and fro via the Super-Highway and the Chiang Mai-Hod Road.

Buses hide 

Take bus #4 from outside the airport arrival hall to the city centre. 

Taxi hide 

There are Metered Taxi counters available throughout the terminal enabling visitors to reach the city from the airport conveniently.
