What to see and do

Tokyo is known for its delicious, sea-fresh sashimi, much of which comes from the famous Tsukiji Fish Market. One of the largest fish markets in the world, Tsukiji receives fresh catch of the day direct from fishing boats coming in the wee hours of the morning. From there, vendors clean, process and sell the fish and fish eggs (called roe) and hold live tuna auctions. Watch the frenzied action happen right in front of your eyes, then stay on a little longer to enjoy some of the freshest and most authentic sushi and sashimi offerings in the world at the sushi bars located right at the market itself.

Besides Tsukiji, the ancient Meiji Shrine dedicated to Japan’s 19th-century emperor is worth a visit as well. Shopaholics can indulge in non-stop retail therapy at the Shibuya and Ginza shopping districts, while partygoers should pay the Roppongi district a visit in the evenings.

Families with kids will definitely want to visit the magic of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. Housed together in the Tokyo Disney Resort, the theme parks are hugely popular with kids and adults alike. The Disney Resort is complete with Ikspiari, a shopping, dining and entertainment haven for families to wind down after a day of excitement.
