The United Kingdom is a vast, diverse and unique country that has something for everyone. From the bustling streets of London, the tranquil hills of Norfolk and the wild landscapes of Scotland, there’s little doubt you can find your type of fun and relaxation somewhere or other in this massive sovereign state that includes Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
If you’ve been in the UK for some time and have not seen Manchester, now’s your time to go. It is one of the largest cities in Great Britain and home to two outstanding football clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City. With Old Trafford located right in the city, what more reason do you need? But if football is not your thing, you might like the beautiful city of Bath. With its 2,000-year-old Roman baths and many Georgian terraces, the whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the backdrop for many of great writer Jane Austen’s stories. Boasting historic sites such as Bath Abbey – located on a site that has been used for Christian worship for more than 1,000 years – as well as a Grand Pump Room where one can drink waters from an ancient spring that was once used to fill Roman baths, the immersive experience of Bath will take you back in time.
If that doesn’t sound good to you, visit Glasgow – the largest city in Scotland – instead. Named European Capital of Culture in 1995, Glasgow offers some amazing natural beauty in the form of rolling hills and clear blue lochs, boasts a happening music and art scene and is amongst the safest cities in the world. On top of that, it was also once named one of Lonely Planet’s top 10 cities for tourists.
But if you’d prefer a quick jaunt to somewhere where they don’t speak English or a bask in the sun, here are some of our top suggestions.
