Réunion, previously known as île Bourbon, is a French overseas island in the Indian Ocean, situated east of Madagascar and southwest of Mauritius. Where to go

The tourist attractions in Réunion are not very well known. Most of the tourism in the island is centred around its natural features, as well as the collapsed calderas of Cirque de Cilaos, Cirque de Mafate, and Cirque de Salazie.

Piton des Neiges - The Piton des Neiges, or Snow Peak, is a massive shield volcano. It reaches the height of 3,069 m (10,069 ft), and is the highest point on the island. It is also considered to be the highest point in the Indian Ocean. Three medium-difficulty tracks lead up to the peak of Piton des Neiges, from Cirque de Salazie, Cirque de Cilaos, and La Plaine des Cafres.

Piton de la Fournaise - Piton de la Fournaise, or Peak of the Furnace, is a shield volcano located on the eastern side of the island and a major tourist attraction. It is known locally as le Volcan and is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

L'Étang-Salé - L'Étang-Salé, meaning The Salty Pond, is a commune in Reunion known for the Étang-Salé forest and its black sand beach. L'Étang-Salé-les-Bains is a popular surfing beach in the area.
