Phuket International Airport, Thailand

Enjoy the beach life on Thailand’s largest island, comparable in size to sunny Singapore. But first, let Phuket International Airport (HKT) welcome you to this oft-cited tourist paradise. This airport kick-starts the journey of millions of travellers every year flying on various different airlines such as Bangkok Airways, China Eastern Airlines, British Airways and Japan Airlines. One can travel from Bangkok to Phuket on a domestic airline, or take a flight through Samui Island as a viable option as well. Tourists embark on their Thai trips from one of the busiest airports in the country and make their way to downtown Phuket which is just 32km away.

Open 24 hours daily, Phuket International Airport has one runway that can serve about 10 flights hourly. There is one terminal, with the departure area on level 2 and the arrival area on level 1. At the arrival hall, travellers can exchange currency at multiple counters. This service is also available at the departure hall. Approach the VAT Refund counters to redeem your tourist privileges, and utilise the free WiFi access at this international airport while waiting for your turn in the queue! While exploring the airport, ring up your local Thai friend to tell him of your visit using the public telephone, or post mail to your pen pal before leaving the country at the Post and Telegraph office found at the departure hall.

Avail yourself of the foot massage and spa services offered right at the airport. After that, treat yourself to snacks at the restaurants, bakeries, fast food joints and ice cream shops around the complex. Proceed to prepare for maximum enjoyment of your trip by stocking up on snacks, souvenirs and books at the stores right in the airport!

Free and easy travellers can seek advice from the counters at the passenger hall to find out about and reserve tours and hotels! Never fret about accommodation as this resort haven has plenty of hotels for you to choose from! The nearest is only less than 750m away from the airport! The Perennial Resort is a boutique resort just a couple of minutes away from the airport. A variety of hotel choices which are less than a kilometre away include My Place Phuket Airport Mansion, Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Vilas, and Baan Prayong! Many of these are accessible to favourite tourist spots and the city area.

The airport is fascinatingly near to numerous beaches. In less than a kilometre radius, travellers can hop on down to beaches like Mai Kao beach, Nai Yang beach, Nai Thon beach and Bang Tao beach to wind down after an active day of travelling! On the way to downtown Phuket, visit even more beaches to strike them off your to-go places, one by one!
