Best Time to Visit Rome

Rome’s most popular tourist season is summer, and in the bright sunny months of June to August, the streets of the city fill with swarms of camera-touting travellers (and other touts as well). Though the extended sunlight hours make sightseeing easier, the long queues and heat make the experience less pleasant for many. As such, the shoulder seasons of autumn and spring (in the months of March to May and September to November respectively) are recommended. Simply pack some warm clothing to take along and enjoy the cooler temperatures, shorter queues and lowered hotel room rates.

Things to do in Rome

Famed for the numerous ancient sites that are as much a part of the city as its modern counterparts, Rome is known affectionately as the ‘Eternal City’, having been in existence for over 3,000 years. Once the mighty Roman Empire, the city has since made strides to become the capital of modern Italy. Many of the ancient Empire’s architectural gems have been left intact and continue to be proudly displayed, though, so be sure to get a glimpse of the past while you still can. Must-see attractions include the massive Colosseum, home of historic gladiator fights, as well as the Trevi Foundation, one of the oldest Roman aqueducts left in existence.
