Discover the cheapest time to travel with Skyscanner
We’ve crunched the numbers to find the cheapest week of the summer holidays to fly. So, if you’ve been holding off on booking your next trip, now’s the time to start planning.
It comes as no surprise that our data showed that the first week of July is the most popular time to head away this summer. But, it’s also the most expensive time to travel. Even though 47% of Singaporean travellers know that there are cheaper weeks of the summer to travel, only 4% are taking advantage of those cheapest weeks.
After crunching tens of thousands of data points, we’ve discovered the week of 19th August is, on average, the cheapest week of the summer holidays to fly. This means that Singaporean travellers can save 11% by travelling on the week commencing 19th of August versus 26th of August. That’s an average saving of up to $239 for a family of four!

Perth is stunning all year round, making it the perfect destination to escape the heat this summer. Laze away all day on Cottesloe Beach, wander through the markets at Fremantle or take a day trip to meet a quokka, the world’s friendliest marsupial, at Rottnest Island. For the best sunset views, venture to King’s Park for panoramic views of the Perth skyline and the Swan River. Once the sun goes down, head to Subiaco and groove to Perth’s lively music scene.
Perth is also an incredible base for a Western Australian road trip. Drive south to Busselton and take a train ride along the jetty, head to Yallingup for small-town surf culture, wander among treetops in karri forests at Valley of the Giants, and go wine tasting in Margaret River. A ‘wild wild west’ experience where you can create your own adventure starts as soon as those plane wheels touch down.
Come hungry to Taipei, perhaps one of the best destinations in the world for foodies. Follow the sizzle to night markets doling out a-gei, tofu skin dumplings; chou doufu, stinky tofu; gao bao, pork belly buns; and yu yuan, chewy balls of mashed taro. As for sightseeing? View Taipei from the top of the Taipei 101 skyscraper, trek through the rolling hills of Yangmingshan National Park, find serenity at Lungshan Temple, walk the steps of Elephant Mountain for city views.
While you can easily spend your entire holiday in Taipei without getting bored, it’s worth exploring further afield. Sip tea and find solitude amongst bamboo forests in the Alishan region, soak on the white sands of the Penghu Islands, and wander from temple to temple in Taiwan’s old capital, Tainan. For modern architectural marvels, scrumptious food, natural beauty, and historical sights, Taipei is a top holiday spot.
