Unprofessional & Untrustworthy – Avoid This Hostel

I don’t often leave reviews, but after my experience with this hostel, I feel it’s important to share as guidance for other travellers.
After a long overnight flight, I arrived in Lima only to find my reservation had been cancelled, leaving me without accommodation and exhausted from travel—making an already stressful change even more frustrating.
I had booked two nights in advance, but when my flight was unexpectedly rescheduled late in the evening, I immediately contacted the hostel to request a simple date adjustment—pushing my stay by one night as my flight would depart the following day. Initially, their communication was polite, but as soon as they realised my booking was non-refundable, their tone noticeably shifted. Rather than showing any flexibility, they took advantage of an already costly and unforeseen situation, refusing my request—even though they had plenty of availability.
Instead, they sent a vague email that gave unclear instructions on how best to proceed. When I followed up with a question, they simply ignored it and cancelled my reservation without notice—while still charging me for the night.
The hostel had every opportunity to act with professionalism and understanding, yet they deliberately chose not to. A good business—especially in hospitality—would have shown basic flexibility, particularly when they had many open beds! Their sudden change in tone, lack of communication, and outright cancellation without notice are all red flags.
Their handling of the situation was unprofessional and arguably deceitful. I even had to chase down who had processed the payment, which added another layer of sketchiness. Ironically, if they had treated me with sincerity, they would have secured nearly another week of bookings when I returned to Lima. Instead, they let short-term greed override long-term business sense.
This experience made it clear how they treat guests when they hold the upper hand. Their actions were unnecessarily hostile, lacking both professionalism and basic decency. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you’re comfortable with unpredictable and unsympathetic service.

Overcharged, poor communication/organization

Booked a mixed bed dorm. Arrived and showed my reservation but the staff seemed very confused. They weren’t talking in English so I was also confused bc there seemed to be a problem. I said that I had other reservations I canceled way before and again showed the one I made. They put me in a room and everything seemed okay. I booked a mixed dorm though and there were no others so I just thought it was slow. Then the night before I left they said I owed a night! I said no, again see my reservation, it covers all nights I was there. After I left was when I realized that the overcharge amount did not include a security fee to be refunded but instead I was just overcharged. Despite my pictures and proof and reservation, they aren’t owning up to their mistake and are saying that bc I left it’s too late. It was a nice hostel so it’s too bad they treat customers like this! Poor communication and organization.
