Riad Africa - Hidden gem in Marrakech

Riad Africa an amazing hidden gem!! Although it is tucked away behind the main busy street and we did have a little trouble finding it initially, when we arrived the welcome from the staff was amazing! No hesitation to get us checked in early and a complimentary Moroccan tea and sweet bites upon our arrival. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful throughout our stay!
The two plunge pools were a welcome break from the heat of the city to cool off during the afternoon and a nice opportunity to relax and chat to the family and other guests! Both pools spotlessly clean and clean complimentary towels provided all day.
The room was an amazing traditional Moroccan space with large comfortable beds and very efficient air conditioning! Plenty of plug sockets and the bathroom was like a mini Roman spa with good quality toiletries and moisturisers provided and a lovely shower with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was provided in the price which was great value and this was a mix of traditional Moroccan and continental selection and plenty of tea and coffee and juices.
All in all Road Africa is the perfect place to stay in Marrakesh, close enough to walk to all the tourist and cultural areas but away from the noise of the busy street markets. When we visit Marrakech again we will be booking again! Diolch

Excellent experience

I’m shocked by some of the reviews for this Riad, I visited in December 2025 second time after staying in their sister hotel in the Atlas Mountains. I loved this Riad, food was fantastic, staff fantastic, location fantastic. I’m coming back next year and this is the only riad that I will stay in because I felt safe here ❤️❤️

Run away!!

The hotel is well located in the city center and the staff is friendly, which are unfortunately the only positive points because the room was very small; we were 4 with plenty of cockroaches in the bathroom as roommates, our AC exploded and caught fire while I was in the room, the rooms are very poorly soundproofed so you hear everything, and the pool and breakfast were terrible.

Horrible.

Very unpleasant stay despite friendly staff. We encountered several problems during our stay. Our air conditioning literally exploded before catching fire. The room we were assigned looked more like a dormitory and was clearly mediocre compared to the one described during booking.
We also found about fifteen cockroaches in our bathroom. Subsequently, the air conditioning started leaking. A technician came to "fix" it by sucking the water out with his mouth, which obviously did not work since the air conditioning leaked a second and then a third time.
The staff finally managed to relocate us to different rooms, which were supposedly already booked, which was false. To top it off, the pool as well as the breakfast were very disappointing.
I strongly advise against staying at this establishment.

Stay away.

Aside from the welcoming staff, the rest is truly mediocre. Our air conditioning caught fire and kept leaking after every pseudo-repair. The room for 4 is very limited in terms of space. Cockroaches in the bathroom. Breakfast with little variety. I do not recommend it at all.
