A perfect stay!

We stayed at Riad Idrissy this week, we stayed in the Shoowaf room which was beautiful and full of character. The staff were super attentive and helpful and the food we ate (both breakfast and dinner) was delicious. All in all it was a perfect trip , great value for money and we will be back in the future!

AVOID - mouldy, dirty, not very secure

Spending over 100 euros a night (which in fez can get you kind of far), and going to a nearly 5 star reviewed riad, we expected a decent amount from riad idrissy. It’s a beautiful historic property for sure, but the management and upkeep of this place is abysmal. MOULD everywhere - bathrooms, walls of room. When we arrived the towels were wet - presumably unwashed and hanging in bathroom although manager claimed other wise. Hairs in the bed when we pulled back the (very pilled) sheets to sleep after a long travel day. We stayed in the top floor room which was private but lacked adequate lighting, felt constantly dank and could not see properly in the room, often tripped to get to bathroom and such. Although they said over email that both card and cash would be accepted for payment for the room it turned out not to be the case - cash only keep that in mind. In general, the property was very dirty, dusty, and unkept, obviously needed a capital infusion. Generally, although the staff was nice, it felt like their main occupation was running the adjoining restaurant - the ruined garden (also mediocre at best) - with the riad itself and its guests being a stressful after thought. Additionally the doors had no locks and the safe in our room was broken, felt uneasy about this.
Would not recommend, especially for the price you can do much better in fez.

Idrissy has good bones but needs some attention from management.

I booked idrissy based on the great reviews, but looking at them now I see that most of them are over 5 years old or older. The building is pretty and reasonably well maintained. It seems however that staff is not paying much attention to the rooms or the guests. There were old cigarettes and a former guests’ clothes in the armoire. The light in the bathroom was so dim I had to use my emergency light to take a shower. Although breakfast was included it was impossible to even get a cup of coffee before 8:45 even after repeated requests. No soap or shampoo was provided even after asking for some from the front desk. Worst of all, no one picked up the phone after I called 10 times upon arrival for directions and a porter to lead us to the hotel, which is customary in the Medina because it’s truly a maze. I would not recommend this place.

Lovely Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Riad Idrissy. More than anything, the incredible hospitality from everyone at the Riad was above and beyond fabulous!! We felt like we were part of a happy and caring family!
We chose a smaller room, which was cozy. The bed was comfortable and the shower, water pressure and hot water were great. I’m sure the bigger rooms are lovely!
The breakfast was delicious and every morning we were cared for by the kindest, most thoughtful and beautiful man named “Zach” !! We loved breakfast each morning and then he introduced the sfenj!!! Those were amazing:)
The Riad took care of everything we needed from accompanying me to a pharmacy, to arranging our trips! Thank you, thank you, thank you We would definitely come back!

A top address both for the stay and for the restaurant

We had an excellent 6 day stay in the Riad.
Very nice, spacious and quiet room. The staff is adorable, ready to help (he helped us organize transfers in conjunction with a great agency).
We had dinner there 3 evenings and the "Jardin des ruines" restaurant is one of the most famous and popular in FES: excellent value for money, "natural" and friendly service, delicious dishes and one of the most charming and pleasant environments in the garden.
Thank you all. We highly recommend
