Exceptionally helpful staff

I spent 3 nights at D Eastern hotel and I absolutely loved my stay.
Anjeli, the lady at the reception was so helpful. She sent a map of places to visit in Ipoh to my phone. She wrote downn places I could eat and also try some special snacks of Ipoh. On the day of my departure when I thought I could just go to the train station and buy a ticket to KL, she checked online first and discovered all trains were fully booked. That saved me a trip to the train station. She recommended the right bus for KL and booked me a Grab to the bus station.

The location of the hotel is perfect, it's about a 10 minute walk to Concubine lane, and about a 15 minute one to Little India. There are several restaurants to eat close by as well as shops. The night market is close to the hotel too. The room was big and had the necessary amenities. The only things missing were a fridge and a peephole in the door.

GREAT LOCATION

This hotel is good if you dont drive as parking is a problem. The good points - location very good, kopitiam, dimsum restuarants, etc within walking distance. If you decide to go Pusing Public Restuarant, that very popular place, you walk from behind hotel through reception, is shorter route.The ladies at the reception are friendly, polite n helful if you ask for directions. The room is very spacious, we get a Ttiple toom of 1 Queen n 1 Single. The single bed is super single so the 2 single beds room beds same super single. The room is very clean, comfort with electric kettle, coffee packs n simple basic toiletries only. The bad - the bathroom wall has no shelf or tray for u yo put yr shampoo, etc n you end up putting up the high wal1. There is no mini fridge but for that low price you cant complane.

not as expected

This hotel is in disrepair. The rooms are spacious, but the furniture is very old and scratched. The toilet is stained of old age and with loose seat. Windows are in disrepair and difficult to close. The plumbing is repaired with tape. Walls and lamps are stained. Also it is dark in the room. All in all back to the sixties. No safe or fridge in the room.

Clean, comfortable and friendly. Ideal for old Ipoh/

We had to quickly find alternative accommodation in Ipoh, after our Airbnb host proved to be ‘uncontactable’.
It was a busy time in Ipoh but we found one room at the D Eastern. And we were very pleased with just about everything - but especially with the front desk. GITTANJELI could not have been more helpful. She dealt with the cancellation process, by moving us to a better room, at no extra cost (in fact making us a good saving on our original booking.com price).
Her recommendations for eating, within walking distance, were spot on. We particularly enjoyed the Hyderabad Curry House.
GITTANJELI was so professional, helpful and friendly. We can’t recommend her too highly. Thank you.

Exceed my expectations

Every single staff that we came across was very service-oriented and tried their best. On the 1st day, they can only accomodate us in a room facing the street (which can get noisy at night). But to the staff's credit, before we check in, they already informed us that the room was not going to be that quiet but the next day, they moved us to a quiet room when one became available,. Very honest in their dealing. Clean room, nice water pressure. The location was very convenient.
