Bookings were worthwhile for the price, considering an amazing course of meal for dinner and breakfast each day. Staff members are all kind and polite. Clean onsen baths with showers. Everything you need is provided, including tooth brushes, hair brushes, razors, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser. Free drinks (coffee, wine, sake) and shaved ice (summer) at the lobby, too. How comfortable to sleep on a futon mattress! The facility is located in the central part of the town, walkable.

It was amazing! Starting from meeting at the station and ending with perfect water temperature!
I had amazing experience with kaiseki cuisine, which this hotel provide. It was so tasty and so many things, that I was overeating. 😅 And I meet a samurai (mascot) during the dinner. ☺️
The room was exactly the same with picture and really comfortable.👍🏻
It is possible to take a private bath in the hotel. I used this service and can say, that I totally enjoyed it!
As you can understand, I am really impressed by this hotel.
Highly recommend it!

The Wafu Ryokan

I suddenly had an idea and went to Bessho Onsen. I found it on the Tourism Association website and made a reservation. Perhaps because of my age, I thought the ryokan's hearty dinner was too heavy, so I decided on a breakfast-only plan. From Bessho Onsen Station, there is a transfer service in time for the arrival time of Ueda Electric Railway.
Drink service was available at the front desk. There were not only soft drinks, but wine, local sake and beer for a fee. There was only one kind of local sake, but it was a bit good and I felt like I had gained something. There was also a kiosk, and there were a few souvenirs. The room was eight tatami mats on the fifth floor of Yubata-kan. It is nice to know what floor the room is on at the booking stage. You need to choose your yukata in the common space, but towels are provided in your room. There was also a kotatsu, so it was warm. There is no view from the room. Also, the lighting is slightly dim, so you may be concerned. The public bath was on the same fifth floor as the guest room, so it was kind of convenient. The water was normally good. There was a waiting room next to the public bath, and there was a miso soup made by the head chef from 4 o'clock in the evening, but it tasted gentle and I drank it many times. The plan was for breakfast only, but before 8 p.m. they delivered a late-night snack of rice balls, takuan and strawberries.
And breakfast was as popular as it was popular. I felt happy this morning with a selection of silver salmon, mozuku, handmade tofu, grated radish, simmered chicken wings and radish in the countryside, horsemeat soba, meat miso, chicken namul style, pickles, kinpira, apple pudding with mini-buffet rice, miso soup, salad, vegetables, apple juice, tea, milk and more.
At 15,000 yen per night, it's not cheap, but it's comfortable and I've become an inn that I want to repeat.

Awesome Ryokan!

Awesome Ryokan! Staff came to pick me up at Bessho-Onsen Station, Outdoor onsen was good, dinner was excellent. They had some "red clear miso" drink and "transparent soy sauce" which was quite a neat touch showing their creativity with food.
I would recommend this ryokan to anyone coming to Bessho Onsen!

Enjoyed the Onsen experience

Love Japanese Onsens and this Onsen did not disappoint. While this is more of a hotel style with traditional Japanese rooms (as compared to Bessho Onsen which is a more traditional Japanese Inn), it was still worthwhile. The overall service was great. The meals which were included in our booking were outstanding. While the town was quiet it was still Interesting to walk around
