Disappointing Stay Due to Poor Service and Room Issues
Our room had an iron but no ironing board. There was only one pillow in the room, and reception told us they didn’t have any extras available.
The biggest issue was our room allocation. We had booked and paid for a Superior Room, but on our first night we were placed in what appeared to be a standard room. It overlooked a concrete wall, was below car park level, and felt dark and gloomy. The room was also noticeably smaller than the Superior Room we had booked and were eventually moved into, making it obvious that we had not been given the room we had paid for. We were only moved after I questioned whether we had actually been allocated the correct room. Had I not asked, I don’t believe we would have been moved.
This completely disrupted our first evening and following morning, as we couldn’t properly unpack before having to move rooms. Despite the inconvenience, nobody apologised or offered to help us move our luggage. The explanation we were given about travel delays and cancellations didn’t really make sense, especially as I had booked the holiday six months in advance and had emailed the hotel three times beforehand requesting a nice room, mentioning that we were celebrating my mum’s 50th birthday.
We also requested a kettle for the room, but weren’t given a cup to make tea. We eventually had to ask the bar staff if they could spare one. It summed up the stay really—everything seemed to require unnecessary effort.
The hotel feels like it has all the right ingredients but falls short in the details and customer service.
The half-board buffet was fairly disappointing, although we had some excellent meals at local tavernas and in Rethymno instead.
The pool area itself is nice, but there aren’t enough sun loungers around it, and I was surprised that guests have to pay an additional €8 per day to use the hotel’s beach sun loungers. It feels odd to pay extra for facilities that are part of the hotel. It’s also worth noting that this took place in 2026, and on one occasion I was wearing long linen trousers and a bikini when a member of staff told me, in his words, that it was “not very nice.” I don’t appreciate being told what to wear.
One experience on our final evening perfectly summed up the service. We’d spent a wonderful day at a nearby beach away from the hotel and arrived back just five minutes before the half-board buffet closed. I simply wanted to grab something quick to eat before going upstairs to shower and get ready for the evening. I was still wearing my beachwear, which seemed perfectly reasonable given that this is a beachfront hotel and I was eating in the hotel’s buffet—not a formal restaurant. A waiter approached me and told me that I should cover up next time I came for dinner. I found this unnecessary and quite irritating. The buffet food was very average, and being spoken to like that when I was simply trying to make use of the meal I’d already paid for left a sour taste.
Overall, the stay wasn’t terrible, and the hotel itself has plenty of potential. However, the poor room allocation, inconsistent customer service, lack of communication, and complete absence of even a simple apology left a lasting negative impression. Unfortunately, these issues overshadowed what could have been a much more enjoyable stay.

Two weeks of pure joy
We stayed for two weeks and during all this time everything was perfect. We also rented a car and visited some beautiful beaches in the west and south of Crete.
What else do I like to remember?
Nice welcome by Lena and Maria at the reception (thanks for the ground floor room and for the plant seeds).
Smiling faces of the cleaners from the Philippines.
Excellent freddo cappuccino at the beach bar, prepared by Stella;)
And pampering by the chef, who prepared a variety of delicious main courses and desserts every evening, with always smiling restaurant chef Babis and other staff.
I also liked the fact that they grow plants so carefully here, from flowering to those for shade. I also saw small plants behind the reception - a plant nursery. There is nothing to fear for the future of this hotel and its staff - congratulations and all the best!
I hope to come back soon;))
