For a quick stay, I recommend Cocoon Stachus
My wife and I went to visit friends in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in southern Germany. To make it easier, we stayed two days in Munich on the go and one day on the go. In Munich we stayed at Cocoon Stachus. It is a good hotel, the staff is very attentive, cheerful and helpful. On arrival we earned a drink while we waited for our room. The rooms are very cool. We stayed first at 764, which has a bathtub inside the room, and then at 164, which has no bathtub, but the shower has a large window facing the room. The beds could be a little bigger, but the mattresses are good. The hotel offers paid breakfast apart, but it was worth it, because we ate very well. It is close to the Hauptbahnhof and Marienplatz. Since we had little time in Munich, we did not do many tours, but where we went is super easy to get to the bus stops. For a quick stay, I recommend Cocoon Stachus.

Nice hotel - very poor customer service
We were booked to stay in this hotel for 2 nights on 29 and 30 June. When we arrived in our room 355 we realised the air conditioning wasn’t working. We reported this to reception who told us they were trying to fix it. Unfortunately this didn’t happen and we were told we couldn’t change rooms as the hotel was full, so reception gave us a fan. We slept badly with the window open due to the heat and were woken up by outside noise at 4.30 am.
We asked again about changing rooms for the second night and were told we could have another room but in the Cocoon Hauptbahnhof, their other hotel. So we packed up and went there, but couldn’t get into the room until later. In the end the room was fine and the air conditioning worked, though it did seem to turn off in the middle of the night.
Reception told us that we needed to email the hotel and claim some compensation for the problems we had. I did this and two weeks later I’m still waiting for them to reply.
The hotel itself is very nice and breakfast was good but the customer service is very poor.

Visited during heatwave and had issue with air conditioning not working properly. Problem rectified quickly after reporting to reception staff, who also offered another room - also in an alternative hotel - as initially thought maintenance staff may not be available straight away. Was also advised to that I could write to hotel management if not satisfied and ask for a refund. That qualifies as good service for me.

The room was clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The location was within easy walking distance to the HBF and old town.
The only thing I would say was a negative was in the hallway to our room they had several mattresses and bed frames leaning against the wall. I’m assuming they were overhauling some rooms. This really wasn’t an issue other than it made the hallway a bit cluttered.
I would definitely recommend a stay here as it is just as nice as the larger chain hotels with more charm and a much better price.

The room you get may not be what you’re expecting
Rooms are not consistent.
We are traveling as a family of 6. We reserved 3 rooms. The first 2 had a large shower, separate sink, separate toilet room. They also had a little couch with table at the end of the bed and multiple outlets. The third room that we paid the same for had a teeny, tiny, bathroom that included sink, shower and toilet. There was one single outlet in the entire room. The outlet was next to the sink in the bathroom. This room had no couch. Because the only over head lighting was built into the couch the third room had no overhead lighting. I had to use my phone light to see into my suitcase at night.
We questioned the reception about this room and they looked at us like they had absolutely no idea what we were talking about. Why would someone be charged the same for these very different rooms?
This hotel is very close to the train station. This is great if you’re arriving by train, however you are very close to the main train station.
