Great outstanding idea of hotel/bed&breakfast! Absolutely special kind of stay! A little bit like adventure, but without any Risks... Even the rain is switched of during Camping.
Especially with kids it feels like adventure for them, but then it could be tricky with playing kids and other guests... (Noise)
Will be back whenever...

Discovered by chance and immediately thrilled!
We didn't stay there, but were allowed to look around and let us explain everything. A quite different way of staying in the Bonn area and also determines a great location for events such as wedding parties, firn events or group trips.

Original, uncomfortable, great photos, excellent breakfast

The idea is quite original - throw a bunch of different vehicles (13 retro caravans, 2 sleeping cars, 4 US airstreams, 1 lift gondola, 2 Volkswagen vans) into a large hangar, equip them with the necessities to stay overnight and market the whole thing as "the coolest hostel in the world".
We slept in the three of us in the damn cramped "recliner", which is not recommended, because two of us had a half-acceptable mattress, the third person slid all night from the slanted cot opposite. For nostalgics, the sleeping car feeling of that time (Interrail, yeah!) may be authentic; for the price I would have liked something more comfortable.
The setting is quite suitable for photography, not least because of the loving, detailed equipment of most vehicles, and the showers were fine. Sensationally good I found the breakfast - it is worth coming early and a while to try the different offers. Parking is available either in the yard or on the street in front of the hostel.
Would I come back? Nope, but the funny experience makes up for the lack of comfort. Conclusion: Suitable for a slightly "different" night's sleep as part of a short trip.

Basecamp is a unique facility and certainly worth a visit. Unfortunately, the campers that are for rent seem to need a general overhaul. Right now at least the one we used was neither really clean nor in a good shape otherwise. E. g. door of fridges were closed with duck tape, light switches, too. Wardrobes were quite dusty inside, overall a bit shabby. For 130 Euro a night (including breakfast, 3 persons in one camper) I would have expected more. I also felt that because of this, the full potential of the place is not used. Shared toilets were not really cleaned often enough during the day and there was a strong urine smell in the men's toilet. Breakfast was excellt and despite the mentioned negative experiences I would come back. Just for the fun of it.
