Hostel and a shelter for street dogs and cats

A Hostel where a lot off the money goes to shelter dogs and cats -the animals have a lot of space and it is clean - you can visit them or stay there for volunteer- realy nice to be there for a visit in the morning and go out with the dogs or play with them

Bad experience

Very loud, everything resonates in the building. Catastrophic bathroom, HS taps, a trickle of water without hot water. All not very clean... We slept 2 beds on the spring of the mattress completely out. Not very nice welcome, we had a problem booking our taxi to the airport! The only positive is the location.

Two more guests that don't read the description and want hot water: WE DO NOT HAVE HOT WATER. The "problem" with your taxi was solved in time, you were not late, you even shared the taxi with more guests. So no need to complain at all. We have a sign in all our rooms: if you have a problem, please speak up and we will try to solve it in the best way. In your case we could give you another room, maybe, or change the mattresses. Or simply book for you another hostel nearby where you could sleep better and have a hot shower, and probably even breakfast, probably for at least 50% more of the price. But the world is full of people who prefer to spoil their holiday and sleep badly in a horrible place just for the sake of leaving a bad review afterwords. God bless them!

What a terrible experience

A horror. We booked a room for our upcoming visit during carnaval via booking.com. They asked us to pay in advance and there it went wrong. She suugested us to pay via Paypal or bank. We were happy to book via Paypal but she couldnt send a link. We tried to contact them and the lady kept telling she is abroad. We waited when she returned but she didnt answer the phone. Week later she sent a message that she cancelled our booking because room is more expensive. We called her but the lady was really offensive. Wouldn’t listen at all. She kept talking without even hearing what we got to say. cancelled our booking with booking.com now she is telling booking.com we didn’t meet the conditions and we were not polite . We’ve been polite all the time but got fed up with her, telling that we’ll sure let hear from us. No never anymore.

Sherida, who is in fact Core de Haan, has never been at our hostel because I cancelled her reservation as she didn't want to pay in advance as clearly required in every booking confirmation on Booking.com. As to Paypal, we don't send a link, we send the email address associated to our Paypal account. Normal procedure for payments via Paypal. I dont answer to calls when there is nothing to say. I could cancel your booking on Booking.com because you were not complying with our booking conditions, that is non-refundable payment of 100% of the reservation value until one month before arrival. And on Carnaval days we don't have any need to wait for guests that don't pay in time, as we can sell the rooms at least 2x more expensive. This was what I was trying to explain to Sherida, who had not else to do than to pay to confirm her reservation. She dindn't so her reservation was cancelled. It is one of our very few rights on Booking.com I don't see why we should not apply it instead of hearing to guest that try to explain why they don't want to pay. Anyway they have never been at the hostel, so they could not even leave a review. They did it just to damage us, because they were furious they lost their reservation for a price that was maybe a quarter of the prices arund on Carnaval's day. They thought we could not cancel their reservation because it was a "Booking.com confirmed reservation" but hosts have still some rights, fortunately, they are still owners of their hostels and can set their own cancellation and pre-payment policies... Hope that many other prospect guests can read this and be informed properly in advance.

A charming, pocket-friendly place to stay with the added bonus of cats and dogs!

What a wonderful place. The hotel is simple, clean and well looked after by amazingly friendly staff. There is no hot water, but a refreshing cool shower was just the job after a long day in the sunshine.
To get the best out of the trip, make sure you volunteer to help out at the nearby shelter. It involves a short trip in the back of the truck to just outside the city, where you can spend hours walking and socialising friendly dogs.
A truly magical experience - I can't wait to visit again

Nice place near the beach with great people

Very nice place near to the most beautiful white beach.
The manager is very riendly and helped me with all my questions
I met there somenice people. We cooked together and went out in the evening
All the money goes to an animal organsation that helps cats and dogs to survive
