KLM Cityhopper Flights

KLM Cityhopper is the regional subsidiary of the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which is part of the Air France-KLM group, and is based on the grounds of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in Schiphol-Oost, Haarlemmermeer. It was founded on April 1991 after NLM Cityhopper, NetherLines, and KLM UK merged altogether. Its identity is similar to that of its parent company carrier, Air France-KLM, with the addition of “Cityhopper” right after the KLM crown logo, and the apparent absence of “The Flying Dutchman” and “Royal Dutch Airlines” on its aircraft, which makes up for its unique brand recognition. In relation, its revised font style was introduced in 2010.

At present, KLM Cityhopper has five fully crewed UK bases in operation, which resulted from its purchase of Air UK and subsequent merger of the KLM UK brand. As a result, several hundred British cabin crews continue to operate the KLM Cityhopper flights from the UK as well as the Netherlands throughout the carrier’s network. On behalf of its mother company, the airline operates short haul services in Europe. In line with this, the ICAO code KLM is used by air traffic control, and the IATA code KL are used on tickets and flight information displays. In addition, KLM Cityhopper operates a structure of feeder services to its hub at Amsterdam with regular flights from all over Europe, connecting intercontinental services from its parent airline and its affiliate, SkyTeam.

At present, KLM Cityhopper owns 28 units of Embraer 190 ER and 20 units of Fokker 70 aircraft, bringing its total fleet count to 48. The Fokker 70 aircraft is notable since it is also used by the Dutch Government.
