A short and easy drive out of Savannah, you'll find some sand, water, and oysters. There's not much else, but it's not a bad way to while away the afternoon. Along the dock, you'll find kids and lovers, and along the beach, you'll find volleyball and frisbee.

Tybee is a super relaxed beach town with some surprisingly great restaurants and friendly locals.

A beautiful island with lovely beaches and a lot of sites to see. We throughly enjoyed the lighthouse, restaurants and tour of the fort.

Nice little city. Very quiet, peaceful and full of history. Take a walk along the beach to collect shells, or visit historical landmarks.

A day trip to Tybee is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. About 20 minutes from downtown Savannah, enjoy a pretty drive and long sandy beaches good for walking and for the soul ... We like the Crab Shack, Stingrays and the Tybee Island Social Club.

Savannah is pretty spoiled to have this fun island so close by. We make it a tradition to go weekly if we can in the warm months.

Just across the bridge from the civilized squares of Savannah, this island town embraces a flip-flop-wearing mind-set—and placed in the top five for being quirky. Indeed, annual events include a citywide yard sale and, each May, the Beach Bum Parade, where float-riders douse spectators with buckets of water and spectators are invited to bring their own water pistols. Tybee ranked No. 3 for being a great beach getaway and also impressed readers for its affordability. Even in summer, the beachside seven-room Georgianne Inn starts at $125 per night.

Tybee Island is Savannah's beach resort. Located at the mouth of the Savannah River, Tybee Island enjoys gradually sloped sandy beaches. There's a profusion of wildlife including sand pipers and ghost crabs. The lighthouse and museum are interesting.
