As this is an old building, the rooms lack some modern services such as air conditioning. They have en suite bathrooms, but those are small and I noticed some mould in the grouting (one of my pet dislikes). The room, however, was well appointed. Generally the hotel was clean, well maintained, and extremely charming in an old world European style.
If bored in your room, you can relax in the gorgeously green outdoor area or the restaurant downstairs. Coffee and tea is served each morning, muffins on Wednesdays and cookies on Thursday afternoons. For a downtown location it has a peaceful feel to it, despite being on a hospital site. Staff were very friendly.

The Inn at Virginia Mason is a modest hotel, but it oozes character. There really isn't much to the facilities, as the rooms lack a fridge or microwave or even air conditioning (so don't stay in the midst of summer!) There's a nice courtyard and nice attendants working the front desk, including one woman who was eager to spark a pleasant conversation as she showed me to the room, which was cozy with a lot of storage space in the walk-in closet. For the price, the room is about as good as one could hope for, but the building goes above and beyond for its picturesque courtyard and well-decorated facade with beautiful green planters on every windowsill. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this well-located old building for its charm and service.

I loved this classy old brick building. Definitely a hotel from a different era -- but the rooms were surprisingly huge! They have a penthouse that I didn't get to see but it sounded like a lot of fun and only $200.

This hotel is near the Virginia Mason Hospital, and the hospital logo is all over their collateral, but it's not limited to patients or families of patients. It was very comfortable and I can imagine it would a soothing place to stay during a stressful medical trip.
