Amazing picturesque Osaka Castle stands near the center of the park. Tons of folks in traditional clothing walking around on this April weekend about a week after cherry blossom festival

Excellent place to visit for a couple of hours, if only to walk the magnificent grounds and or pay to see the castle.

One of Japan's most recognizable landmarks and Osaka's icon. A must visit site for first timers. A beautiful architectural structure from the outside but not much on the inside. The long climb uphill towards the castle can be difficult for the elderly and physically challenged.

Vast open picturesque space in the shadow of the castle. There are some castle assets to see like the Keep and the Gunpowderhouse. Don't let those hold you back from seeing the castle though.

First things first, i went during November, so its not as cool....
(you don't get to see cherry blossoms) the castle itself is meh.. it cost about 5 bucks to go in.

BUT IF YOU GOING DURING MARCH OR APRIL ITS GORGEOUS!! Also the 5 bucks you pay is simply because you get to go to the top and you get an AWESOME VIEW!!!

There are a few street performers, but nothing on par to the level that is in America.

Lots of food carts. This is the only time when I saw Japanese Vendors got pissed off at people (Chinese tourist who try to haggle and barter food lol)

All and All, if you're in Osaka then you should definitely check out this place. Other than there there's lots of prostitutes in Osaka Dotonbori. LOL

As far as I remember, anyone who has been to Osaka would suggest Osaka Castle on anyone’s itinerary, so I would suggest the same. Easily approach from each part of the city, this historical building has become one of icons of Osaka. Built in 1583, the building bears an important history of Japan, especially in Japan’s unification. Entering this eight stories building, the visitor would be brought back to the era where the historic events took place by amusing display of pictures, folding screen, full scale replicas, miniature figures, and diorama. While there, don’t forget to enjoy the Osaka’s panorama from the Observation Deck.

Make sure to allow a couple of hours to fully appreciate Osaka Castle. The surrounding grounds have a lovely park and a couple of Shinto shrines you can visit. In the springtime you’ll find the area is crowded with people watching the cherry blossoms. Inside the castle it’s been turned into a history museum of sorts, but it won’t take that long to see it all. Be sure to head to the top floor observation deck that overlooks the city!

The central location and historic aspect of Osaka Castle makes this a must see attraction while in Osaka. Spend a couple bucks to walk up the tower, learn about the samurai, and take some panoramic pictures of the surrounding city.

Formally the home of the wife of 16th century Japanese ruler Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the 15 acre Nishinomaru Garden is one of the Osaka most beloved cherry blossom viewing spots, with the Osaka Castle Tower enhancing the backdrop.

This is a site not to be missed if you are in Osaka. The area around the castle and the castle itself make for a several hour visit. Nice views from the castle. You can take an elevator up but will have to wait as it can get very busy.

While it might be a ferro-concrete reconstruction, this traditional medieval Japanese castle in the heart of Osaka makes a decent introduction to the form. Better yet, the park that surrounds it is quite pretty, and even if it's an effect you'll eventually see done better elsewhere, Japanese castles in general are simply cool enough that you're unlikely to really care.

While not my favorite castle in Japan, as it's a modern concrete reconstruction, if you're going to be in the Osaka area, this is one of the city's main sights. Inside are collections of feudal-era samurai armor, pottery, scroll paintings and other historical memorabilia. The park grounds are also a breathable greenspace in the middle of one of Japan's biggest cities, which makes it more relaxing.

We arrived too late to enter the castle but the outer grounds surrounding the moat were beautiful, peaceful and serene under weeping sakura blossoms.

Osaka Castle was my first taste of the old Japan. Its an impressive castle where you can visit its interior and the gardens. Inside, the hand works on wood are lovely and they change as you view them from different sides. Remember to take of yout shoes :)

There were less to look at than I expected. And I assume the place is really pretty in the spring time when the flowers and trees are out. The weather wasn't that good on this day. The park is big and pretty.

The views of the external structure are special but the inside can be skipped if you are running short on time. The surrounding grounds are lovely when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
