August are the rainiest months, which can put a damper on your day of beer garden hopping. Spring and fall are ideal, with weather that’s warm enough to enjoy time outside but without the need to lug around an umbrella. Winter, while too cold in much of the country for any outdoor sightseeing, is popular for a skiing holiday in the Alps.

Germany generally felt safe, with some caveats like “traveling alone is okay, but not at night” and “try to be friendly to strangers approaching you, but reserved.” Recent immigration sparked the note that “as Germany's population has changed a lot lately, you will get many looks from many different men having different backgrounds and cultural expectations.” Interestingly, “there is a lot of rural space between Berlin and Uzedom and that was quite uncomfortable - mostly because of stories of neo-nazis in Brandenburg.” Ed note: Brandenburg has since taken measures to combat a rise in neo-Nazi activity.

Germany is really the center of Europe, for the longest time literally split in half East and West. Germany's history makes for a unique blend of influences.

One of the world's most scenic and varied lands and one of Europe's oldest cultures come together in Germany. German culture, food and language have lent themselves liberally to the rest of the world. German castles are some of the most iconic in existence. And yet Germany enjoys a high standard of living and a thoroughly modern, hi-tech society.

My Birth Country - how can I not love it. All provinces have their own beauty, some more in spring, some in Sommer and others are at their best in Winter. Therefore do some research before visiting. Public transport is generally clean, in time and affordable...and safe!!
