Ankara Holidays

A bustling modern metropolis that envelopes a city-center nearly as ancient as civilization itself, Ankara is both Turkey's second largest city and its seat of government. Formerly called Angora, known for fine wool and unique breeds of animals, its agrarian past can still be glimpsed in the historic district around the citadel. Scattered ... Read more
throughout this otherwise westernized capital are unique archeological sites of Hittite, Phrygian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman origin. A city with two souls, Ankara can entertain the most discriminating of diplomats while satisfying those in search of the very roots of humanity. Try the local Kavaklıdere wine, admire contemporary art at the Cer Modern or enjoy some of Europe's best shopping at the Karum and Armada Centers.

Ankara is a very modern city with good public transportation and plenty of hotels. The most popular things to do here are to go to the Mausoleum of Ataturk, and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations which has some amazing items on display.

Ankara is beautiful. We visited some old buildings and have such a wonderful time. The transport is cheap and gets you to the places you want almost directly. I STRONGLY recommend this place to anyone. Maybe not a holiday with children because their health and safety are almost non existent!
all in all a lovely place if you are interested in beautiful old buildings xx

It's in the middle of Turkiye and most of the year this city is gray and far from fun.

Great city for shopping. Ankamall for example. Also great restaurants and lots of places to enjoy a coffee or two. The Ataturk Mausoleum for a bit of Turkish history is recommended.

l live here for 4 years and it is BEAUTIFUL here especially during winter. I enjoyed the food...ekmek..bread...just the smell of a newly baked ekmek makes my mouth water. Taste the adana kebap, doner, iskender and their flat bread with sesame seeds.....believe me, they are worth the trip.
