FLYING FROM SINGAPORE TO VIENTIANE

Lao Airlines operate flights out of Singapore on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays that connect directly to Vientiane. It is also possible to connect via Bangkok to get to Vientiane.

BUDGET AIRLINES THAT FLY FROM SINGAPORE TO VIENTIANE

There are no budget airlines that fly directly from Singapore to Vientiane.

DEPARTURE FROM SINGAPORE CHANGI AIRPORT (SIN)

Getting to the Singapore Changi Airport is fairly convenient on bus and on train. While both transportation cost approximately the same (SGD 2 or USD 1.50), the train is recommended as it is not subjected to road conditions (especially if you are traveling during peak hours). A train ride into Terminal 3 from the city should take you around 45 minutes and moving around the different terminals is easy on the SkyTrain. If you are looking for the most convenient option, a taxi ride from the city to the airport should cost you around SGD 20 (USD 15) to SGD 30 (USD 22) and it should not take more than 25 minutes unless there is heavy traffic on the road. If you do intend to leave your own vehicle at the airport, do remember that parking at the airport can be quite expensive as a fee of SGD 0.04 (USD 0.03) a minute with a daily cap of SGD 57.60 (USD 42.40) applies.

THINGS TO DO IN SINGAPORE CHANGI AIRPORT (SIN)

There are plenty of things to do (and eat!) at the Singapore Changi Airport. Since the direct flights do not depart until 2:15pm, you should consider getting in early to get lunch at the airport (you save on GST too!). Looking for local delights? ARRIVAL AT WATTAY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (VTE)

The Wattay International Airport is located just 3km away from the city center and the easiest way to get into the city is to purchase a taxi coupon from the official Airport Taxi counter located in the airport - this should cost you approximately USD 7 (SGD 10) which is sometimes cheaper when you pay in USD (instead of the local currency). There is also the option of a tuk-tuk but be prepared to haggle for the best price.

THINGS TO DO AT WATTAY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Wattay International Airport is a small airport with only a handful of bars and restaurants that are priced at a premium. It is advisable to settle your meals before heading to the airport (since it is only located 3km away from the city) due to the lack of alternatives here.

Vientiane (GMT +7) is one hour behind Singapore (GMT +8).

WEATHER IN VIENTIANE

Cooler temperatures that range between 16 and 30 degree Celsius can be expected between the months of December and February. Otherwise, Vientiane generally enjoys a fairly consistent climate of between 23 and 32 degree Celsius throughout the year with the largest amount of rainfall in August.
