New Year’s Day – Tokyo, Seoul
Three was an increase in flights to Tokyo during the days leading up to the 2019 New Year as travelers go up north to experience winter in this popular public holiday destination.
Chinese New Year – Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok
Flights during CNY 2019 concentrate around neighbouring Southeast Asian countries, most especially to KL and Bangkok as residents take advantage of the two-day public holiday.
Good Friday – Manila, Taipei and Yangon
Good Friday for 2019 falls in the middle of April, which is high season for beach destinations with travelers flocking to popular beaches like Boracay. Taipei and Yangon are also gaining traction in flight bookings.
Labour Day – Bangkok
Falling on a Wednesday, flights around Labour Day 2019 are concentrated in nearby destinations with Bangkok as the most popular. May 2019 carries 2 public holidays so travel is split between Labour Day and Vesak Day.
Vesak Day – Bali
Because Vesak Day 2019 falls on a Sunday, the Monday proceeding it is when the Public Holiday will take place. This longer, three-day weekend sees plenty of bookings to Bali.
Hari Raya Puasa – KL, Manila
We’re seeing an uptick in bookings to Kuala Lumpur and Manila for the dates surrounding Hari Raya Puasa 2019. Bangkok flights are also picking during this public holiday as it coincides with the June school break
National Day & Hari Raya Haji – Bangkok, Bali & Penang
National Day 2019 falls on a Friday, followed by the Hari Raya Haji public holiday on Monday, essentially giving travelers a four-day long weekend. We see flights to Bangkok, Bali, and Penang pick up as well as flights to London.
Deepavali – Hong Kong, Chennai
Falling on 27 October, the Deepavali 2019 public holiday will be on a Monday. While it’s still early, we see an uptrend in flights to Chennai around the days leading up to the last weekend of October
Christmas Day – Seoul & Tokyo
Seoul and Tokyo remain the most preferred year-end destination among Singapore travelers as they prefer to spend their Christmas 2019 in destinations where the winters are cold.
