This museum celebrates the history of the automobile over the past 100 years. It has more than 60 classic cars on display as well as a working model railway stretching over 1800 square feet! This is great for the kids too!
EAT: Foodies will be spoilt for choice with the variety of food on offer in Oxnard. Kick start the day with a visit to The Best Breakfast Cafe. Dishes such as the California scramble are sure to prepare you to tackle the day. For some home style cooking, head to Doiminick’s Italian Restaurant. Suitable for both meat lovers and vegetarians, this family-owned restaurant has been delighting the taste buds of its diners since 1949. We recommend trying the classic lasagna.
DO: Nature lovers can head to Channel Islands Whale Watching. You can get a change to go on an excursion to witness the majestic whales up close and personal! For the thrill-seekers, head to Blue Ocean Kayaking and paddle through the waters of Channel Islands National Park. Just need a beather? Rest and rejuvenate atMandalay State Beach for that important dose of vitamin sea.
2. Shaver Lake, California
SEE: Away from concrete jungles, expect scenic views when visiting Shaver Lake. Head over to Dinkey Creek for the best views that nature has to offer. The best time to visit is during spring as you’ll come across many calm pools. Just a few miles ahead is Rancheria Falls. The hike is worth it for this waterfall that will serve as an amazing backdrop to all your photos for Instagram.
EAT: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Hence, you should head to Shaver Coffee & Deli for some breakfast burritos to fuel yourself for the day ahead. If you’re feeling peckish after a tiring day, The Hungry Hut Restaurant should satisfy the hungriest of people. Expect fast food favourites such as burgers and milkshakes. Craving for a meal with a view? Head to the Lakeshore Restaurant & Saloon for excellent food such as steaks to accompany the picturesque views worthy of your Instagram page.
DO: Horseback riding along Shaver Lake is an activity that is perfect for both adults and kids. Incredible views make this adventure a definite must-do! For an adrenaline rush, you could head to the Off-Highway Vehicle trails. From easy to difficult, users will be able to brave the trails on a variety of vehicles such as a Jeep or a quadbike
3. Los Angeles,California
SEE: A trip to LA is not complete without taking a walk down the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame and taking a picture with the star of your favorite movie actor/actress. Make sure to also head to Griffith Observatory for panoramic views of LA and the Hollywood Sign.
EAT: Home to some of the best food in the country, LA will leave you hungry for me with its amazing food selection. Bea Bea’s in Burbank is a local haunt for some of the best pancakes that you can get. If you’re still hungry from breakfast, then a meal at Uova should definitely be in the cards. Think handmade traditional pasta served quickly without breaking the bank. Perfect for those pasta cravings. If you’re feeling a bit fancy, you could try our Broken Spanish. Ray Garcia’s take on “authentically inauthentic” Mexican cuisine will leave you wanting for more!
DO: A visit to the “Happiest Place on Earth” aka Disneyland should be at the top of you to-do list. Appealing to all ages, expect a showcase of old and new Disney characters as well as heart-pounding rides such as Magic Mountain. For a more relaxed activity, head over to Santa Monica pier and spend the day under the sun playing all the games for prizes. Stick around till the late afternoon to also experience a beautiful sunset.
4. Simi Valley, California
SEE: Dating all the way back to the American natives, the exhibits at Strathearn Historical Park and Museum provide great insights into the history of Simi Valley which was also known as Simiopolis before. For a little bit of local arts culture, you can head to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. Rich in history, the building has been used in numerous ways before becoming the venue for stage productions such as Hairspray. For a breath of fresh air, take a stroll through Corriganville Park and soak in the sights and sounds that the park has to offer.
EAT: Your first stop of the day should be at The Egg House for some of the best breakfast fare. For lunch, a visit to the internationally accalimed In-N-Out Burger will definitely appeal to all the burger aficionados. There are numerous hacks to the menu to get you a whole variety of different burger experiences from the 3×3 to the Animal Style burger. Dinner at Barton’s Steak and Seafood is a great place to end the day with their specialty being the Steak Diane. Nothing better than a good steak to cap off your day.
DO: Cool down after an exhausting day under the sun with a visit to the Iceoplex. Public ice skating sessions are offered here for all ages and skill levels – perfect for the whole family. If ice skating sounds like you’re going down a slippery slope, try your hand at archery at the Conejo Valley Archers where you can have a simulated experience of shooting arrows on an actual roving field.
