Excellent hotel in Miraflores

The hotel has had a recent refurbishment, so despite some of the less good older reviews we thought we would give it a try. It is an excellent choice for a stay in Lima - very well located within walking distance of the main attractions in Miraflores, excellent buffet breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms with heating and AC, and very reasonable rates - would recommend for a stay in Miraflores!

Not as expected

There are good and bad things.
Good, got check in before noon already. I think hotel was almost empty. breakfast is not too bad. Few different bites and fruits are available.
Restaurant area is very nice place to be.
Rooms are supposedly renewed.
Some not so good- Price doesn’t match overall quality. Internet, most of time didn’t exist at all. If got phone connected then only for few minutes. Didn’t bother after second day at all. Bathroom is still old and warn out. Not nice at all. One morning I had to go out at 5am and asked about breakfast, it starts at 6am. I was hoping maybe they will get me banana or sandwich or something... Nope.
Tv, super boring. I know it’s Spanish speaking country but really not even English news channel ? Or useful internet ...
So overall I was really disappointed with this place. Wouldn’t go back.

Overall good choice

I enjoyed the hotel. The decorations were awesome. It had a colonial atmosphere. Rooms were very clean. Bedding was comfortable. The rooms had heating and air conditioning. I chose the breakfast option. Breakfast was good overall, but the bread didn't taste fresh. There's a lack of service in the dining area at breakfast time. Soiled glassware and plates were left on the tables. The tablecloths were dirty. They had dirty spots from previous guests. They were not changed when the guests left the breakfast area. Some days clean plates were provided at the breakfast buffet. Some days they were not, so you had to use the same plate if you want to do multiple visits at the buffet. The staff members at the front desk were amazing. Always smiling and willing to help. There was security on site. They were courteous and helpful. I recommend it for the location and because you'll get a good night sleep. I didn't hear any noises from my room.

Not my choice!

Basic, cold, damp smell, no heater, doors left wide open which made it even colder! Only stayed here as no direct flight to Cusco and booked as part of tour. Only positives was helpful security guard on the front door and walk to Starbucks in late evening felt safe. Someone tried to get into our room during the night! Glad only stayed for 1 night it's just a transit hotel and theres not really much to see in Lima anyway.

G Adventures please choose another Hotel

This hotel is the starting point for G adventures tours for trips leaving or coming back to Lima. The hotel itself is not bad and is in a nice safe area in Miraflores, but the rooms have a very mouldy smell and waiting 15-20 mins for hot water in your shower is the norm. Breakfast is from 6:45- 9:45 but you can expect them to shut it off at 8:30 just because!!! The staff are not very helpful and seem to have very little idea of how a hotel is run, they have a couple of taxi's that they use when you ask for one and charge an inflated amount to get anywhere do yourself a favour and walk out to the street and wave one down your self as we paid 35soles for the hotel taxi and the next day paid 15soles with a normal cab to go to the same place!!! The wifi is only suitable in reception, In your room it will drop in and out or not work at all. Be careful leaving your bag with reception as a guy off our tour did and they sent his bag to the airport with someone else and didn't seem to care when asked where his bag had gone. Until G Adventures change hotels this will be the one you stay at the night before and after your tour, if you have more time in Lima do yourself a favour and head towards Kennedy park and book something down there that's better.
