Very nice place
Rooms in a typical tower of the region, small but comfortable and beautifully decorated, the owner is very welcoming, helpful and good advice for visiting the Magne. Breakfast in a shady garden, flowery and super well maintained.
Not to be missed.

When you happen to find a jewel
Found by chance, owner very helpful and friendly. A room jewel inside an ancient tower completely renovated with attention to detail. Spectacular view and two minutes from the caves of Diros. Ancient village very valued and very nice cared for. I recommend it.

Excellent tower
One of the few real towers of Manila. Special experience our stay there. Dimitris Owner excellent Pro but above all human. It made our stay a real experience. Close to all the attractions. Strategic point for all our excursions.

Amazing Place - Amazing Host
Booked over the phone literally on the last minute.
The host of the place, Dimitris is a very honest and kind person. He loves his place and do cares about both the tower and his guests. He gave us very good instructions on finding the place and stayed late to wait for us.
We stayed only for one night and arrived late at night. We stayed at "Galini" room and by the moment we entered the room we were astonished by the beauty the cleanness and the details on everything in the room. The pit next to the bed is amazing also the same with the "war" holes and even the bathroom. It is a time travel centuries ago with the luxury of 2022 amenities.
The breakfast at the garden was really good with the standard things you find in most hotels but the quality was splendid. You can really tell the difference tasting a slice of cheese, honey, fruits and home made pie offered by Dimitris at Katafigi. Also great coffee...!
We had to go early in the morning as we had to continue our journey but we loved the place so much that we want to return back and stay a few days.

Would stay there again, winter and/or summer
We are very happy with our 6-night booking at Katafigi.
The hotel, which is a very nicely renovated old "war-tower" is situated in a nice little village called Haria, very close to Areopoli (most lively place in the evening), the Diros caves (definitely worth a visit - separate review coming), the picturesque village of Limeni and quite well located to be able to visit both sides (east & west) of the Laconian Mani.
Starting with the host (Mr. Dimitris) he already won plus points when he called to ask when he should expect us and he gave us very precise instructions on how to reach the hotel. At first there was a mistake with the room he gave us, but he corrected it immediately when he understood who we are (he was expecting another couple), and he handled it with humor (visible during our entire stay). He was very helpful (i.e. arranged flowers for me for my girlfriend's birthday) and knows the region very well. We will consider visiting Katafigi during winter, when he will have more time to discuss and sit around. He gave us the feeling that he would take care of everything we needed.
As I mentioned, the hotel is a very nicely renovated old castle-tower. It has a few rooms (I think 6) of various types and sizes. We had booked one for 2 adults + 2 children (we were 2 but only this was available). It was very traditional and cozy (incl. fireplace) and quite large. We slept well, Haria is also a quiet village. The room includes most amenities and feels like home after a day or so. The only two drawbacks for the specific room would be the small bathroom (I guess due to the structure of the old tower) and the small and old tv (not that I'm a fan of watching tv when on vacation, but might be important to others).
The rooms share some balconies which have really nice views. It never was a problem to us that these balconies are shared. Furthermore there is a parking for several cars, even with some shaded spots, under trees. There is also a nice patch of "garden" with some nicely decorated tables, where one can sit and breakfast is served. The hotel was quite flexible with breakfast times and breakfast was nice, but nothing special. For the price paid, we might have expected a little richer breakfast.
All in all we would certainly like to visit Katafigi and the beautiful Laconian Mani again, during summer as well as winter.
