A mildly grungy city with historic value and high tourist visibility. The Old City has charm. The rest of the city does not.
The beaches and water very clean and nice.Italian people very polite as always.
The old town itself, walled and on a bluff over the sea, was built by the Catalan Spanish. It's well-located for the traveler with easy access to some of the most beautiful hikes, beaches (and sunsets) in Sardinia, and the inland archeological sites and medieval churches. It's also got an active airport. My fantasy is to buy a small vacation home nearby.
Darling seaside city in the north-west part of Sardinia. Come here for a less ritzy more down to earth feel, rent a bike to discover beautiful nature parks near by! The people are friendly and the old town walls are perfect to see a stunning sunset from. Eat great seafood in Alghero!
