What to see and do
Google ‘Krabi’ and you’ll be inundated with gorgeous images of turquoise water, clean white beaches, greenery-covered craggy cliffs and maybe the occasional ornamental sampan. It’s clear from one glance what Krabi’s main attraction is, so get your swimsuit, sunscreen and shades ready for lots of quality beach-bum time spent on some of the world’s prettiest beaches.
Begin your sun-worshipping vacation by stretching out at the most obvious beach possible: Ao Nang, the best known and most popular of the lot. This is the place to go to see and be seen, as tourists from all around the globe congregate on this picturesque coastal stretch for some much-needed sun and sea. The vast human population here also means that there’re plenty of hotels, bars, restaurants, and water sports facilities available right on the sand, so you’ll have plenty to do from morning to night.
If you’re not done having fun yet, grab a long-tail boat from Ao Nang direct to Railay, a stunning peninsula with its own pristine ecosystem of beaches, caves and greenery. The only way to get there is by boat, thus the amount of human traffic is dramatically reduced. Railay contains 4 beaches, countless limestone cliffs, caves, and even hidden lagoons, making it a popular spot for nature-lovers and rock-climbers as well.
