Santorini Airport is located on the Greek island of Santorini, one of the Cyclades islands situated in the Aegean Sea. The airport serves the island’s main town of Fira, though much of its air traffic is tourism-related. Santorini is extremely popular with tourists from around the world due to its many natural and architectural attractions, ranging from coloured beaches and a large volcanic caldera to beautiful little towns with blue domed roofs.
Santorini Airport has been operational since the 1970s, and its most popular air route is to capital city Athens. Though a wide range of international connections is also offered at the airport, these flights are usually available only on a seasonal basis (mostly during the high tourist season from spring to fall). Still, the airport receives over 1 million air travellers annually and is served by a range of airlines such as Aegean Airlines, Eurowings and Vueling.

What to see and do
Santorini is one of the world’s top favourite holiday destinations, and for good reason. This little Grecian island is so stunning that photos don’t do it justice, and tourists continue to be struck dumb by its beauty even when they know what to expect. It’s also chock-full of history and archaeological sites, having been around for 4,000 years. Visit the spectacular ruins of Akrotiri, a Bronze Age settlement that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption hundreds of years ago. Then reward yourself with gorgeous views of the island’s famous caldera and blue-domed houses at the tourist towns of Imerovigli and Oia, along with a plate of sea-fresh island fish.
