What to expect when hiring a car from Cologne
Driving in Cologne, Germany is considered to be a challenge for most despite good highways and by-ways in the city. One-way streets could be confusing and could even cause travellers to get lost so be prepared with maps and the right directions. Also expect heavy traffic on these one-way streets. There are four routes going around the left bank of Cologne which circumscribes the centre of the city — Militärringstrasse, der Gürtel, die Ringe, and the North-South route.
Cologne also observes a strict “low emissions” policy and cars without green stickers will not be al-lowed to go around the city. There are parking slots available in P+R parking lots which can be found in various parts of the city. The Buspark Koln, which is the central coach parking area in Cologne, has about 80 parking spaces.
