Gijón

Gijón was originally a Roman settlement and its port constructed by the Catholic monarchs during the 16th century. The Roman baths and modern-day marina are both popular with tourists in Asturias.

Following the N-632 from Asturias Airport, Gijón is around a 30 minute drive away. The city is easily accessible by car with parking readily available at reasonable prices within close proximity of all its sights and attractions. Multi-storey parking is available in a handful of clearly signed locations although it should be noted that some may operate time restrictions.

Picos de Europa Natural Park

Exploring the natural beauty of Picos de Europa is a popular activity with tourists in Asturias. The perfect place for a drive through outstanding mountainous landscape, hiring a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended.

The Picos de Europa Natural Park is a 40 minute drive from Asturias Airport via the N632 from Oviedo. Despite being a conservation area, it is well served by good quality roads and plenty of service stations for refuelling. The N621 running through the natural park connects many of the region’s best views in a straight line.
