Getting to your destination

Ajaccio

The capital city of Corsica has all the glitz of the Cote d’Azur, with plenty of buzzing pavement cafes and a trendy marina. It’s also where Napoleon Bonaparte was born, so there are plenty of museums and monuments dedicated to the island’s most famous son.

It only takes about 15 minutes to drive to Ajaccio from the airport. Car parking is widely available, although you will have to pay. There’s a Q-Park near the marina. For less stress, look for hotels in Ajaccio with car parking. It only takes a few seconds to add the option to your search, and means you’ll always have somewhere secure to leave your car overnight.

With its labyrinthine old town and fashionable restaurants, the southern town of Bonifacio is a classy choice for a beach break in Corsica.

It takes about two and a half hours to drive to Bonifacio from Ajaccio Airport. Parking can be found around the marina, although you should arrive as early as possible to secure a space. Lots of hotels in the area have guest parking, a great option if you’re basing yourself in the town during your holiday.

Sartene

“The most Corsican of all Corsican towns” (according to Prosper Merimee), Sartene is a rugged and traditional town packed with intriguing history.

It takes just over an hour and a half to drive to Sartene from Ajaccio Airport. Public parking is widely available. The best place to leave your car is in the car park at the south of the town: from here you can enjoy sweeping views towards the Valinco Gulf and the mountains.
