Driving around Aberdeen Regional Airport
US Route 12 runs past Aberdeen Airport, the regional route between Washington and Michigan. The section of road around the airport only has two lanes, so you don’t need to worry about hitting big roads as soon as you leave the airport. It spreads back out into four lanes a little while after leaving the airport.

Big Stone City
Perched at the south end of Big Stone Lake, Big Stone City is a popular spot for fishing and relaxing in the South Dakota countryside.
It takes about 80 minutes to reach Big Stone City from Aberdeen Airport. Once you arrive you will find plenty of places to park your car. Most of the hotels and restaurants in Big Stone City have car parks for their customers, and there are plenty of places to leave your car beside the lake.
Fans of Little House on the Prairie will enjoy De Smet, the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Visit the family’s homestead or come in July for the pageant.
It takes just under two hours to drive to De Smet from Aberdeen Airport. Car parking is plentiful in the town, with a good range of parking lots and on-street spaces. Most of the museums, restaurants, shops and hotels in De Smet offer guest car parking as public transport is scarce.
