The Donoi Airport is a joint civil and military public airport located in Uliastai, the capital of Zavkhan Province in Mongolia. It is alternately called the new Uliastai Airport, serving the city of the same name. The airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authorit of Mongolia, running services to the capital Ulan Bator and back to Uliastai. The sole airline travelling to the destination is Hannu Air.
The airport only receives small aircraft and its runway surface is grass, measuring 10,498 feet. Most airports in Mongolia, apart from that of the capital (Chengis Khan International Airport), are small and domestic/regional airports. Airports in the country connect key cities and regional capitals to each other, ultimately linking them to the capital Ulan Bator. This is important because Ulan Bator is the commercial and economic centre of the country, and that most goods and services arrive here first. It is also the seat of government, and the primary gateway of Mongolia to the world.
