Pevek Airport, a domestic port of entry in the northernmost airport of East Siberia in Asia, is mainly a transport route between Pevek and major cities such as Moscow and Anadyr. Travellers going here can find the airport on the map using these coordinates: 69.78333 (latitude) and 170.6 (longitude). It also has an elevation point of 11 ft above sea level with a runway extending about a length of 8,202 ft. This makes the airport able to serve medium-sized planes coming and going between the area. It is unknown whether military aircraft actually operate here, but interceptors can work in the area.
Travellers landing here will find a town that serves as a modern settlement built after World War I. It was mainly used by miners and exporters of minerals in the Northern sea route. Those going here will also see here various gulags where prisoners once mined uranium. The lack of profitable quarries, however, has forced many of the mines to close down, which in turn, thinned the population.
A tundra climate is experienced by those going here, where the temperature is cool even in summer while winters can get harshly cold. This makes it necessary for tourists to bring along thermal clothing and other suitable clothes to remain comfortable even during frigid weather.
