Chennai international Airport is one of the oldest and busiest airports in the country. It serves as the gateway to most cities in South India. The new international terminal was opened 4 months after the new domestic terminal came into operation in August 2013. There are also plans to link the airport to the city via a metro rail station. Singaporeans are required to apply for a visa before landing in Chennai.
There are two main terminals -- the international and domestic terminals at the airport. The two terminals are far from each other. Passengers can travel between the terminals by free battery-operated vehicles or coach services. The construction of moving walkways between the terminals is still under construction. There are information desks and tourist information counters available in both the terminals for passengers.
