Getting to & from the Airport

Driving hide

Senai International Airport is connected to the Senai Airport Highway. The distance from Senai International Airport to Johor Bahru city centre is about 30km. Car rentals are available but be sure to go to a reputable car rental agency. Car rental rates are a lot lower compared to what you can find in Singapore and fuel costs are about half of those in Singapore. Prominent signage will guide you from the airport and beyond to other parts of Malaysia.

Trains hide

The new JB Sentral railway station along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak and Jalan Jim Quee is connected to both the CIQ and City Square by pedestrian overhead bridges. The old train station, located just two hundred meters South of JB Sentral (along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak and facing Merlin Tower) has been decommissioned.

Buses hide

For your convenience, you can find many bus and coach services at the bus terminal at Senai International Airport. These comfortable services operate on a regular schedule and are fully air-conditioned. There are buses that take you around the city, for instance, to Holiday Plaza or Plaza Pelangi shopping mall. However, bus stops are not clearly demarcated or labelled. Wait alongside the locals or look at destination boards on the bus and don’t be afraid to ask the bus driver directly. The major bus stops opposite City Square at Jalan Wong Ah Fook are where you can take buses to many parts of the city, as well as the suburbs.

Taxi hide

Go to the official taxi stand located outside the arrival hall. Airport Taxis and regular taxis are a convenient way of travelling out of the airport. Services are readily available for 24 hours, 7 days a week. Since January 2010, taxi drivers have been required by law to activate their meters and issue receipts upon request.
