New Delhi Airport is situated 23 km south of Delhi and is a major gateway in Northern India. The 24-hour airport currently serves more than 13,000 domestic and around 10,000 international passengers every day.
The International Terminal operates 35 airlines flying to many major cities around the globe. The Domestic Airport is segmented into three terminals -- Terminal 1A, Terminal 1B and the Domestic Arrival Terminal (ID). All terminals are open 24 hours and have services and facilities to make it convenient for all passengers travelling through the airport. There are information counters available in all terminals, making it convenient for passengers to gain 24-hour information and assistance.
A free shuttle bus is available to transfer passengers between the International and Domestic Terminals. A golf cart service is also available for transfers between domestic terminals.
Services and Facilities
Lounge. Plaza Premium operates six executive 24-hour lounges at both the international and domestic terminals. Passengers are requested to pay a nominal fee for use of these lounges. Services include a work space for refreshments and massage facilities. Passengers are required to prebook the lounges online to guarantee a seat. The ITC Welcome Group Green Lounge and Sams Snooze at My Space is available throughout the day at the International Terminal. The Amex Platinum Lounge is available in Terminal 1 for card holders.
Wifi/Internet Services. There is free WIFI available in Terminal 3 for 20 minutes. Connect to the “Aircel WiFi” network. You will require a working mobile phone to receive a username and password. Any WiFi usage after 20 mins is chargeable.
Business & Conference. There are conference and banqueting facilities readily available at the Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi hotel, which is close to the airport.
Shopping. There is duty-free shopping available for passengers, ranging from confectioners to luxury designer brands in Terminal 3. There are also a good range of shops available in Terminal 1.
General Services. There are ATMs and bank services available across all the domestic and international terminals. Public telephones and postal services are also widely available. The medical centres in each terminal are operated by doctors throughout the day. Rest rooms ad baby care rooms are available in all terminals. Also, Terminal 3 has lounges and shower rooms for its passengers. There are designated smoking areas in all three terminals where passengers can go to for their nicotine fix. There is a smoking area in Terminal 1D on the first floor near the Food Street. There is also a ventilated smoking room available in the International Departures area post security checks.
Eating Facilities. There is a wide array of restaurants available in the arrival and departure terminals. Terminal 3 departure area has one of the largest assortment of cafes, bars, restaurants and fast-food outlets.
Car Rental Facilities. There are no car rental facilities available at the airport. There is a Carzonrent desk available in the arrival area of the terminal offering chauffeur-driven cars and limited self-drive options.
Transit Hotels. Transit hotels and sleeping pods are available within and near the airport. If sleeping at the airport doesn’t appeal to you, Hotel Delhi Aerocity and Hotel Impress, both located near the airport, have airport pick-up available for passengers. If you intend to stay at the airport, Eaton Smart New Delhi Transit Hotel, Sam’s Snooze at My Space and Ibis New Delhi Airport offer hourly rates and day rooms.
