Mactan-Cebu International Airport is a major international airport in the Visayas region in the Philippines. It is located in Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island, and is part of Metro Cebu. It is the second busiest airport after Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The airport is managed by the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority and covers an area of 797 hectares. It has a single 3,300-metre runway that is complemented by a full-length taxiway. The airport terminal houses a domestic and international terminal. It also has a general aviation terminal. The total passenger handling capacity of the terminals is around 4.5 million passengers a year.
The airport was built between 1960 and 1970 and is spread over a 797ha area. The airport handled 6.77 million passengers and witnessed more than 58,888 aircraft movements in 2012. International airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Silkair and Qatar Airways operate here very regularly. Other airlines are Asiana and Korean Air and of course, national carriers like Cebu Pacific and the Philippine Airlines.
The airport has several facilities. Just over the customs control is a big duty-free store, a restaurant and a gift shop. The Cebu Pacific Counter is also located there. Particularly interesting is a massage parlour for passengers to enjoy some much-needed pampering before or after a flight. A pharmacy is also available in case you need to stock up on medication or toiletries.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport has a number of souvenir shops featuring locally made products if you are looking for gifts for loved ones back home. Likewise, snack bars and coffee shops inside the terminal look after your hunger pangs.
