Lion Air (also known as PT Lion Mentari Airlines) is a Jakarta-based budget airline. One of Southeast Asia’s largest low-cost carriers, Lion Air operates over 70 domestic connections as well as regional flights to more than 100 destinations within the Asia Pacific region. Established in 1993, Lion Air is the parent company of subsidiaries Batik Air and Wings Air, and is also associated with Thai Lion Air and Malaysia’s Malindo Air

Check In

Web check-In is available for certain Lion Air flights, and will be open for use 24 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight. After going through the online check-in process, passengers will also be able to self-print their E-ticket so they only need drop their baggage off upon arrival at the airport. Baggage Allowances & Fees

All Economy class passengers are given a complimentary hand baggage allowance of 7kg as well as 15-20kg of check-in baggage (for those flying Business class, the baggage allowance is 30kg). Luggage that exceeds the weight limit will be subject to excess-baggage charges.


Passengers can pre-select seats online. However, the airline reserves the right to move passengers to different seats with no prior notice. Lion Air’s Economy class seats have a seat pitch of 32 inches. Business-class passengers can sink into exclusively designed leather seats with spacious legroom of up to 38 inches.

In-flight services

As a low-cost carrier, Lion Air flights do not come with complimentary inflight entertainment or meals. Passengers who would like to be served food, however, may purchase some from the inflight menu during the flight.
