Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flights

Biman Bangladesh Airlines, also known as simply Biman, is the national flag carrier of Bangladesh. It is based at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, with secondary hubs at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong and Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. The carrier operates international passenger and cargo service with Bangladesh and to Asia and Europe, with air service agreements with 43 countries.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines was founded on January 1972 as the national airline of Bangladesh, then called Air Bangladesh. Operations began on February 1972 with flights between Dhaka and Chittagong, Jessore, and Sylhet. The most destinations it has ever served at one point throughout its service were to 29 international destinations, including New York City and Tokyo. Biman is certified as safe to fly in Europe by the European Aviation Safety Agency, and has successfully passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Each passenger is allowed one carry-on hand baggage weighing no more than 7kg. The sum of the three dimensions (length, width, and height) of the hand baggage must not exceed 115 cm. Free allowance for checked baggage depends on the route and the ticket class. For international flights from Bangladesh, free allowance for economy class ranges from 20kg to 25kg, and from 30kg to 35kg for business class. For international flights to Bangladesh, free allowance for economy class ranges from 30kg to 35kg, and from 40kg to 45kg for business class. For domestic flights within Bangladesh, free allowance for economy class is up to 20kg, and up to 30kg for business class. Biman Bangladesh Airlines will not accept a single piece of baggage weighing over 32kgs. Charges for excess baggage will apply. Please note that for safety reasons, several items are not to be carried on board. These include, but are not limited to, the following; compressed gases, corrosives, explosives, flammable liquids, radioactive materials, oxidizing materials, poisonous and infectious substances, and other dangerous articles, with the exception of medicines and toiletries that are necessary to the passenger (in limited quantities). Other prohibited articles are firearms, stunning devices, objects with sharp points or edges, workmen's tools, blunt instruments, and explosives and incendiary substances and devices.

Inflight Food

Biman Bangladesh Airlines offers online meal selection option, allowing the passenger to choose from set meals. Meal options for those with special needs are available, such as for diabetics, vegetarians, Asian vegetarians, Muslims, and children. Complementary beverage is available anytime throughout the duration of the flight upon request, and is served with all meals.

Inflight Entertainment

Biman Bangladesh Airlines screens classic and the latest English movies, as well as Bangla and Hindi films. A wide selection of music albums and music videos are also available, as well as several games for both the young and the young at heart (or, at the very least, for the bored).

As of November 2014, the airline operates to 21 destinations, 18 of which are international. Due to the carrier's air service agreements with 43 countries, there is still room for expansion. Aside from Bangladesh, Biman Bangladesh Airlines serves the cities of London and Rome in Europe, Kuwait, Bahrain, Riyad, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, and Muscat in the Middle East, and Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore in Asia.
